Diabetes is when the amount of sugar in the blood is too high. This happens because the body cannot make enough insulin.

Insulin is made in the pancreas. The pancreas is a gland behind the stomach.

When food is eaten and goes into your bloodstream insulin takes the sugar from the blood and turns it into energy. We need energy to be able to move, breath and talk.

There are 2 types of diabetes. They are called:
