Otoplasty
Following an otoplasty, a protective bandage may be wrapped around the head to protect the area. You may need to keep the bandage on for a few days while sleeping. A small, protective dressing is usually worn for five to 10 days after the operation, or until the stitches are removed.
During the first couple of weeks after the procedure, it may be necessary to take some mild painkillers if the ears are slightly sore or tender. Your GP may prescribe a painkiller such as paracetamol or codeine if you have any discomfort. Your ears may also feel a little numb for a few weeks after the surgery.
After the stitches and dressing have been removed, it is important to keep the area clean in order to prevent infection.
