Euthanasia is against the law in the UK. It is illegal to help someone kill themselves under any circumstances. 'Assisted suicide' or voluntary euthanasia carries a prison sentence of up to 14 years.
There are religious, moral, ethical and practical arguments surrounding the issue of euthanasia. It is an extremely emotive and controversial subject and has been a subject of public debate for many years.
