Preoperative tests and investigations are carried out before planned (elective) surgery. They provide information that may affect the treatment you will need.
Your age, general state of health, and the type of surgery that you are having will determine the type of tests that you will need. The tests may include:
- a full blood count,
- blood clotting tests,
- a kidney function test, and
- a chest X-ray.
