Care Homes

If you will need an extended period of nursing care, a care home (sometimes known as a nursing home) is likely to be more appropriate.

Care homes usually offer short-stay or long-stay care. Your GP, community nurse or social worker can arrange this for you, but it may take some time.

Lists of local registered care homes and details of registered nursing homes are available from your local social work services department. You can get information about finding a care home and all the issues to consider on the Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland website.
