Emotions such as anxiety and depression can make you more sensitive to pain. This means that pain can be harder to bear and you will feel more affected by it if you have strong emotions.

Dealing with the emotions or treating depression can help to break this circle, and so reduce your pain as well as improving your mood. It may be useful to read the information contained in the symptom control section about pain.
